Edwards Engineering was tasked with the replacement of two 100% Outside Air Make-Up Air Units that serve the hallways of the multi-family building at 1000 W Adams. One unit serves the north hallways and the other serves the south hallways. The units were beyond their life expectancy and in need of replacement. Also, the outside air intake ductwork was badly corroded.
The customer expressed their concerns of high humidity/moisture during summer days, so we took that into account and added reheat coils to the new units for dehumidification of the air. The old units did not have this, and the customer is very happy with the result of our recommendation.
We advised the customer to approach their neighbor, so that we could use their property to get the crane placed behind the building. The neighbor agreed which saved our customer many thousands of dollars by avoiding street closure charges.
The new units are tied into the customer’s building automation system. Through the Internet, we are able to dial in remotely and monitor the new units' operation which greatly enhances our speed of service and allows us to determine if a Service Technician is needed or not.
